What We Do

Development Goals

Harambee 4 Humanity
works with local partners at home and abroad, to respond to challenges and opportunities in the following four areas of Development:

Education - Information and Communication Technologies
To build and maintain educational institutions for children, youth and young adults; to provide opportunities for professional development for teachers; to promote girls’ education; to provide access to information and communication technologies and provide IT training.

Economic Sustainability
To collaborate with communities and co-operatives to identify and maximize existing skills and resources; to disseminate information and instruct individuals and groups on how to start, establish, sustain, or expand small enterprises that benefit the community as a whole.

Sustainable Agriculture
To provide access to information and training on best agricultural practices that will maximize crop yields, slow deforestation, prevent soil erosion and maintain soil quality; to work with communities to select and purchase best crops for their land and food needs.

Health
To improve access to safe drinking water by constructing wells, harvesting rainwater and developing water treatment, irrigation and sewage treatment systems; to promote public health by disseminating information on safe sanitation practices, HIV/AIDS, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Malaria, and other relevant health topics; to improve access to, and promote use of health services.

Harambee 4 Humanity collaborates with individuals and groups in areas where there is a demonstrated need, and a clear commitment on behalf of the community to play an active role in the development and implementation of projects.

We support initiatives in which:

  • the community is willing to invest their time, apply their skills and expertise, and provide what resources they can to make the project a success;

  • the activities respect the natural environment and make use of local resources and capacity;

  • there is a benefit to the broader community; and

  • the activity or outcome can be sustained beyond the duration of H4H’s involvement with the project.
