Alec Ring
Designer
Alec Ring graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor in Architectural Science. His undergraduate thesis proposed freeing surface areas within cities for natural landscape by locating services and suitably-programmed spaces beneath cities. The design aspect explored the integration of mass transportation systems into the existing heritage and architecture of North American cities. In previous employment, Alec worked on construction documents for the World Trade Centre’s Tower Three in New York. In his current employment as an assistant architect at ERA Architects Inc., he is currently involved in a number of design and restoration projects.
Alec’s personal experiences living in Brazil, Mexico and France led to his understanding of the potential of architecture for social and developmental empowerment. His team developed the winning small-scale affordable housing design in an international competition; the design was recently published in Building Magazine.
Alec has traveled to Kenya to help construct his design for Oleleshwa Primary School in the Maasai village of Ewaso Ngiro, Kenya.

Karl is returning to Ryerson University this fall to undertake his Masters of Architecture.
Like Alec, Karl has also traveled to Kenya to help construct his design for Oleleshwa Primary School.
